There is a story, often told, that upon exiting the Constitutional Convention of 1787 Benjamin Franklin was approached by a group of citizens asking what sort of government the delegates had created. His answer was: "A REPUBLIC, if you can keep it." The brevity of that response should not cause us to under-value its essential meaning: Democratic Republics are not merely founded upon the consent of the people, they are also absolutely dependent upon the active and informed involvement of the people for their continued good health.
If we as concerned citizens expect change in governmental policy, we must educate ourselves and our progeny to these principles and intents, actively participating in government at all levels from local to federal.
This Video is very informative about the founding principles of our Constitutional Republic, and the intent of the Founding Fathers, It explains the various forms of Government And The Problems Facing The World Today. For your own understanding it is vitally important that you should watch this video in its entirety.
