Someone has observed that in any election had all men and women of faith stood together and voted their hearts they could have controlled the outcome. I am confident that this is so. This nation was founded by men and women of faith, people who knew that all rights originate with God and are not bestowed by a benevolent government.
The Declaration Of Independence is one of the greatest statements of purpose ever written by men of faith, for it is there that we read:
WE hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness — That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
Pick up any newspaper today, read any statute, law or ordinance and you quickly conclude that our world has been turned on its head, that rights originate with government and not with a loving Creator, and that men are the servants of the government rather than the government having derived its “…just powers from the Consent of the Governed…”
I am running for State Representative of District Four. District Four includes the City of Coeur d’Alene, and Fernan Village.
I am running as a Conservative of Faith, one who supports the sentiments of our Founders and who believes that the U.S. Constitution is the greatest founding document known to man. I support the Idaho Republican Platform, which you can access at Idaho GOP Platform on the Idahoans For Hollingsworth main page. To be more specific I believe very strongly in the values that were so common at the founding of our great nation. I support constitutional government at all levels.
Our nation was built by men and women of faith who were hard working and did not expect others to provide for them. That picture is rapidly getting lost in a government that wants to care for our needs and control our lives from cradle to grave. This trend has fathered a lot of unwise programs that intrude into the family and is rapidly spending us into national bankruptcy.
We need to take action to reverse that trend. We cannot continue to go on as we are, taxing and spending on projects that are beyond the scope of government. On the Federal level I am a strong supporter of constitutional government, and I want to see that same philosophy worked out in state government as well. There are a number of legislators in Boise who hold similar views and it is my goal to join them.
We are in a battle for the life and soul of America. To win we must stand together. In fact, if this battle is to be won it will be won only because you and others like you decided to stand and fight with us. Shoulder to shoulder we can make a difference. Alone, I am nothing, but together we shall be unbeatable. Don’t worry about the fact that we may be a minority; a well-organized minority has often seen victory against great odds (remember Gideon and his 300 warriors).
There is a verse of the Star-Spangled Banner that we seldom sing and it goes like this:
O thus be it ever, when free men shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation!
Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Pow’r that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just;
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust!”
And the star spangled banner in triumph shall wave,
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave! |
I believe that our cause is just and that standing together we not only can, but will see victory.
If you agree with the thrust of this campaign I would ask you to do a couple of things for me. First, I would ask you to forward this email to friends who care for America and who might be receptive to the message, and especially any who might live in District Four. We need their financial support and their vote.
Second, I would ask you to share this with your pastor (or other group leaders) and ask him if he would be willing to introduce us to the congregation. (He can do so legally if he extends the same courtesy to others.)
Some think that Christians should not be involved in politics at all, since their first priority is to share the gospel of Christ. And truly, the spiritual health of people around us ought always to be our most important concern. But we also must recognize that the Old Testament Prophets, as well as John the Baptist and the Apostles all had something to say to government officials. Some, like Moses, Joseph and Daniel, even served in the government.
Your voice can be heard. We can be successful. Will you join in this opportunity to take back the reins of our government? The choice is yours.
